A born perfectionist, Kim spent hours of her
adolescence detailing drawings with the finest tip brushes and watercolor paint
sets. Ariel's batting eye lashes and Snow White's puckered red lips,
Kim fantasized the recreation of such beautiful faces from her favorite Disney
fairy tales. Thirteen and finally given permission to wear makeup,
Kim spent much of her earned money on cosmetic products and brushes. From
there, a true passion for wearing and the application of makeup began.
From ages 18 to 21, Kim completed Indiana University's School of Liberal Arts program where she perfected skills in communication and journalism. Moving to the city of Chicago post college, Kim accepted a job offer in advertising sales with Fox Cable Sports (July 2006-June 2008) and later graduated up to Discovery Communications (June 2008-December 2008). Enjoying sales, yet still behind a desk, Kim knew her outlet for creative artistry was not being met. Finally, surrendering to her true love and abilities with makeup, Kim decided to take a leap of faith by leaving her job and attended MKC (Margaret Kimura Cosmetics) Beauty Academy in Los Angeles, California. There, Kim worked with industry leaders in photography, styling and of course, makeup. Makeup artist to the stars, Margaret Kimura quickly became her greatest professional mentor. An example of hard work, creative thinking and the ability to "go get," Margaret proved to Kim that anything is possible as long as you love yourself and chase your passion. Kim currently reins as MKC's top student of 2009 and completed her program after creating looks (including makeup, hair and wardrobe) for multiple photo shoots including some of LA's top models and noted leading photographer, Patricia De La Rosa. Currently residing in Orange County, CA, Kim is working hard to further her career in makeup through bridal trials and day-of application, freelance for multiple makeup lines and as a Makeup Artist for Benefit Cosmetics. She has arrived on California's makeup scene strong, enthusiastic, and ready to take on whatever comes her way. |
